When it comes to athletics, there is always the question of whether to pay your players or not. You hear the media talk about, schools talk about it, even your water-cooler conversations at work likely consist around the payment of college athletes. We have been diving into this topic of amateurism all month and this week we have a different perspective.
This week we have the pleasure of having Hunter Jones on our podcast. For those of you who don’t know, Hunter is a former D-III baseball player for Transylvania University. Additionally, Hunter is one of our classmates at the UK College of Law and he gives the topic of “amateurism” a different light.
Payment is not the only way that the “pay-for-play issue” could be solved. In this episode of Scholars of the Game, Hunter gives a solution to the payment problem that many people may not have thought about. His idea would even work with the NCAA model in place today! Additionally, Hunter discusses how we solve the problem that is always an issue with the NCAA and that is making sure that players are in classes they want to be in. Listen this to this weeks episode to find out!
